Websites Built to Rank

A little about us and our experience in Web Development and SEO

Building websites that rank in Google and other search engines is what we have been doing successfully since 2001. Though many things related to digital marketing have changed during that time, we’ve not only adapted but have grown in terms of what we can offer to our clients.

Our professional web design services have helped hundreds of businesses into the online world, and many of our clients have been working with us continuously for 15 years or more. We even have a few clients who have been with us since the very start of our venture in web development over 20 years ago.

Today there are many options when it comes to building a website for your business. There are lots of web development firms offering website development. And there are lots of SEO agencies that offer search engine optimization services for websites.

SEO-Ready Web Design

What we do is to combine both services – providing you with a fully optimized and ready-to-rank website. Gone are the days when you’d have your website created by a designer, and then have to find an SEO firm to take care of the optimization of it.

When we build websites, we handle all of the On-Page SEO, which is vital to how your website will rank for your search terms on Google, Bing and other search engines.

Experienced Web Developer and On-Page SEO

Who is Alex Dounavis, what does he do, and how do you prounounce that surname?

“I developed my first website back in 2001 using notepad and following instructions to code the HTML from a book I borrowed from my local library (yes, that’s how old I am!!). The site was very basic, consisting of just a few pages, and from what I remember, looked absolutely awful.

I’ve gotten a lot better (I hope) since then, and during the past 23 years or so I have built hundreds of websites for all types of businesses ranging of everything from hotels, restaurants and car rental agencies, to wedding planners, orthopaedics, construction companies, real estate agents and everything in between.

After a year or so of coding my own HTML with Notepad and using tables to structure my pages, I discovered WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editors in 2002. I started with Microsoft FrontPage, which turned out to be a complete nightmare to use. The amount of code bloat was the stuff of nightmares, especially if you were copying and pasting content you had written in Word documents.

From there I was introduced to Macromedia (now Adobe) Dreamweaver, which has become my tool of choice ever since. Over the past 10 years or so, I have built many sites using the WordPress platform, and I can fully understand and appreciate why it is so popular. I guess if I hadn’t learnt HTML back when I started, then WordPress would be the platform I’d use for everything.

Throughout the years I have been building websites, I’ve always taken care of the most important on-page SEO elements. I’ve always known the importance of the title and description meta tags, using headers and good page structure, resizing and optimizing images and using alt tags. This is stuff that I learnt when I first started – it’s just become second nature to me over the years and is something that I apply to every single website I build.

Though there have been several new factors that have appeared over recent years relating to on-page SEO such as Entities and schema, as well as more efficient image file formats, a lot of it is still the same as it was close to 20 years ago.

I’ve always been a believer in the power of on-page optimization, as it is the most important foundation for all of your SEO efforts. Before starting with off-page SEO such as link building, your on-page must be taken care of properly.

Last but not least, my surname. It’s Greek – and it’s pronounced Dou-na-vis (Δούναβης) – not Donavis, Douvanis or Dounavitch. But if you do get it wrong, don’t worry – after close to 50 years, I’m used to it and I actually enjoy hearing new pronunciations.”
